The EV8380 is an evaluation platform for the CMX838 Family Radio Processor. It speeds development time by allowing CMX838 experiments to be performed without developing embedded host firmware. The EV8380 includes a main PC board containing a CMX838 FRS/PMR446/GMRS Family Radio Processor, TM a PCMCIA card and Windows software. The main board includes interfaces to all CMX838 sections including: RF (synthesizer RF input, charge pump output with loop filter, and synthesizer reference oscillator input), audio (mic jack, mic bias source, and speaker amplifier, speaker output jack) and host (PC via PCMCIA card and software). Windows software presents a ‘type and click’ interface to CMX838 registers for read and write operations. It also executes tab-delimited text script files to automate command sequences.
